Changes in Tour de France 2026 Stage 2
Stage 2 Barcelona

Le Tour de France Grand Depart 2026 in Barcelona is a great event for the city, no doubt!

First stage will be a team time trial around Barcelona city center. The second stage between Tarragona and Barcelona is a medium mountain stage. And third stage will start in Granollers heading to France.

Nevertheless, the expected route had to be changed because of a wild pig flue that is affecting Collserola range of mountains. This parts affect the second stage (Tarragona-Barcelona), and the route will be shortened a bit.

The expected stage included 3 very interesting climbs as Alt de Begues (Cat 2), Pla de Pelaig (cat 3) and Santa Creu d’Olorda (cat 3). All of them very popular passes near Barcelona, very popular between locals in the south part of the city. Barcelona is a very popular cycling destitation!

With the new route, the race will skip Santa Creu d’Olorda, and the cyclists will proceed directly to Barcelona from Molins de Rei. Once in the city, straight to Montjuic, where the cyclists will climb 3 times to Castell de Montjuic. This climb has some very steep (but short) parts. Remember that Monjuic was home os the World Cycling Championship in 1973 and 1984.

All in all, a spectacular start of the Tour de France in Barcelona 2026, worth to be watched live!
