Montserrat is the magical mountain close to Barcelona, and a bike tour is the best way to discover it. The meaning of Verge de Montserrat for Catalan people goes beyond the religious feeling. Visiting the virgin in pilgrimage is the usual thing to do to thank for anything that happened. This is also the reason why visiting the Monastery and the Basilica is better on working days rather than at the weekend. Saturdays and Sundays local people are also visiting, on top of the usual foreign visitors. Then, much better avoiding the weekend. The usual thing to do in Montserrat is touching the virgin (for that you will have to wait in the long queue at right on the Basilica) and also lighting a candle. Sports in Montserrat are a great experience. No need to say that rock climbing is king in these steep walls. Lots of rock climbers around! Also hiking is a great experience in Montserrat. Our recommendation is to get the highest point of the mountain (Miranda de Sant Jeroni, at 1200 mts), from the monastery (at 700 mts). You can do that in just a couple hours (way and back) and the views from the top are stunning! Click here for the detail of the route. In our cycling tours we will lead you to the best roads around Montserrat. We will take you to tiny roads without any traffic, and will surround the whole mountain. This way you will see the massif walls from all prospectives. This is an amazing trip with great views, do not miss it! The end of our cycling tours is, obviously, the monastery. The steep final climb is, in words of one of our customers, a mistic experience, fighting the road and the slopes! Once at the Monastery, the classical

All of us into cycling love having a nice beer when finishing a ride, don't you? Bikes and breweries match, and it is becoming a very popular way to know a city or a region. Also in Barcelona, of course. Even if we are focused on serious cycling on carbon road bikes, we love sharing with our visitors this part of the Catalan culture, and at the end of a demanding ride tasting some nice beer in a local place plenty of charm. They are very few such pleasant things to do after a bike ride! Our tours around Barcelona are demanding and plenty of climbing, that's one of the main attractions when cycling in Barcelona, but once we finished, it is time to enjoy ourselves and find a great place, being a small brewery or one of the main Catalan beer producers. By the way, they are Damm and Moritz. Let us recommend especially Moritz, as they have an amazing tapas restaurant in which you can enjoy not only the several types of beers but also some very nice tapas. Then we have some small breweries which are totally worth to visit and taste their beer such as La Cassette. They also love bikes, so that's a plus! Bikes and breweries in Barcelona match, no doubt! In case you don't need such a demanding ride, we can also adapt the route to your needs. We can customize the tour for you and your group, as we are focused on private tours. We also have some e-bikes to make a little easier the tour. This way, some not-so-fit friends can join the ride! Bikes and breweries in Barcelona are one of the best ways to get to know the Catalan way of life. Join us to discover it!

Road cycling in Barcelona is an amazing experience! Even if Barcelona is a big city, road cycling in Barcelona has a lot of options to get some roads with scarce traffic. The roads leading to the mountains surrounding the city have great views and are also in very good condition with great asphalt. Of course, the highlight of any cycling trip in Barcelona is Tibidabo church on top of the highest mountain around the city. You can see the church from all over the city and it becomes the main destination for every cyclist! At 500 mts height it is the church and also the Tibidabo amusement park. The church was just finished in 1966 but the amusement park opened in 1910, isn't it amazing? But it is not just Tibidabo, there are other hills around the city that you can discover by road cycling. Forat del Vent, La Conreria, Vallensana, Collada de Parpers, Orrius, Begues... All of them are hills that you can climb during your rides around Barcelona. For sure it is a good workout, not easy to find a flat route around Barcelona! The mild weather, the good road surface and finally the helpful drivers make Barcelona a very interesting option for cycling!

Cycling in classic bikes has become a true passion for many cyclists. Also in Barcelona, of course. Possibly the first big event on classic bikes was the Italian Eroica. As time passed by, the Eroica became the "Strade Bianche" which now, by the way, is a prestigious professional spring classic. There are some rules which have to be obeyed in the classic bikes events. Bike has to be built before 1987, shifting with levers in the frame, no clip-in pedals (strap pedals). Of course nothing about disc breaks and electronic shifting!! Another nice thing about these events is that you have to be dressed in old cycling clothes. Of course not a helmet (cycling caps are welcome!). Many participants wear old wool jerseys and some of them have a tire around the chest, like in the old cycling times. Feeding zones are also...special. No isotonic water o energetic drinks, just plain water and wine. No gels or modern sticky bars, just bread, cheese and ham. This is it. As said before, cycling in classic bikes is becoming more and more popular. Also in Barcelona. The most popular ride on classic bikes is "La Pedals de clip", which takes place in Sant Martí Sarroca, in the Penedes wine region south Barcelona. Next 2020 the date is May 10th and you have 2 routes, 80 and 47 km long. And remember, this is not about being fast, this is about showing off your nice old bike and wear the old cycling clothes you kept hidden in your wardrobe! Have fun!!

Doing a Cycling trip in Penedes is a great experience! And doable if you are in central Barcelona and you would like to escape from the big city to the countryside. In the Penedes wine region, you will find solitaire roads, great scenery, sunny weather... The roads seem made for the winemakers and the bikes, nothing else! Get one of our rental carbon bikes at our shop, including GPS device, take the train from Sant Andreu Arenal train station (hardly 200 mts from the shop) to Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, and start to enjoy the trip! Our track will take you to solitaire roads and some climbing, even if we have several different routes and we can recommend more or less distance or climbing. During the route you will be cycling between the vineyards in very quiet and safe roads, overlooking the famous Montserrat Mountain in the distance. Sant Sadurní d'Anoia is known as the capital of the world-known Catalan Cava. It is possible to visit the winery of Freixenet and also Codorniu, which are the most important producers. Really worth a visit to any of them, but the Freixenet winery is just beside the train station, and that could make the difference... We will give you also the best tips for lunch when finished! A cycling trip in Penedes is really worth, then a nice lunch at a typical Catalan place. And finally visiting a winery, you can not miss the whole experience!
